ELECTRIC CARS

Local post offices will get electric cars this fall.

Fountain Valley and Huntington Beach will each receive 25 Ford Ranger

EVs. They are among 500 vehicles that will be distributed to post offices

across the country.

“We deliver clean air along with the nation’s mail,” said William

Henderson, postmaster general. “We’re proud to be a good, environmental

neighbor in every community we serve.”

AMIGOS MEETING

Members of the Amigos de Bolsa Chica will elect their new board of

advisors at the group’s Jan. 19 meeting and show “The Bolsa Chica -- A

Public Wetlands,” a historical review of the efforts to preserve 1,200

acres at the site.

The meeting will also include a report of the Coastal Commission’s

hearing on a proposed home development on the mesa.

The group will meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Huntington Beach Civic Center,

CHAMBER DINNER

The Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual dinner Jan.

20 at the Waterfront Hilton on Pacific Coast Highway.

The theme for this year’s event is Beyond 2000. Entertainment will

include a table-decorating contest, silent auction and an awards

ceremony. The cost of the event is $6 per person or $550 for a table of

10.

LEGISLATIVE RECEPTION

The Fountain Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold a 2000 Legislative

Reception on Jan. 14 at Chiappe’s -- Los Caballeros Racquet & Sports Club

on Newhope Street.

City, county and state officials will be honored at the event, which is

sponsored by Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center, The

Gas Co. and Pacific Bell, among other companies.

IN YOUR DREAMS

Psychology professor, “dream worker” and clinical hypnotherapist Marjorie

Miles will conduct a dream workshop Jan. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the

Gothard Business Center, Suite 203, 16541 Gothard St.

The class will cover methods for interpreting dreams to unlock creativity

and solve problems. It will also include tips on keeping a dream journal.

SEA BELLES

Janice Stranger was named Sea Belles captain for the Huntington Harbour

Yacht Club last month. Other officers include Patti Kenmore, first mate;

Wynn Hayes, keeper of the log; Pat Rivera, purser; Jodie Ciotti, cruise

director; Bett Walton, ship’s hailer; Carol Brown, navigator; and Jane

Erdman, parliamentarian. Erdman served as the Sea Belles immediate past

president.

COUNCIL ON AGING

The Huntington Beach Council on Aging has announced its new officers for

the year. They are Harold Schechter, president; Dick White, first vice

president; Frieda Poulos, second vice president; Marsha Waldman and Betty

Shannon, secretaries; Jim Townsend, treasurer; and Ken Pollock, assistant

treasurer.
