Girls Got Game tames Sparks
Behind a tough defensive effort and the scoring of Stephanie Hunter
and Hilary Pool, the South Huntington Beach Girls Got Game rolled to a
39-19 victory over the Newport Mesa Sparks in a Division 3 National
Junior Basketball game Sunday.
The defense was led by Kali Fournier, who came up with seven steals and
three rebounds, Pool, who notched six steals to go along with four
rebounds, Sarah Meyer had three steals, Tami Fournier came up with four
steals and three rebounds, and Mary Madden had five rebounds with one
steal.
Pool also scored 13 points, second to Hunter, who posted 14.

SHB Sparks 41, Newport Mesa 7
Defense paved the way for the Sparks, who held the Liberty scoreless
until the third quarter. Lauren Kaprielian and Shannon Peterson scored
nine and eight points, respectively, to lead the victors.
FOUNTAIN VALLEY NJB
DIVISION 1
Westminster 35, FV Martians 18
Fountain Valley fell behind early and was forced to play catch up the
rest of the way. Crystal Perez came up with five steals, two assists, and
three points and Ashley Courtney scored seven points with four steals and
a pair of assists to lead the Martians (2-2).
DIVISION 2
Tsunamis 15, Live Wire 9
A balanced Tsunamis attack saw Jenny Schneider score four points and lead
the defense, Brittany Koster also played strong defensively, and Melanie
Lisnock led all scorers with seven points.
