Deshai Houston capped his football career at Ocean View High by

being named recently as the Golden West League’s Offensive Player of the

Year.

Houston, a quarterback, ended his record-setting senior campaign by

passing for 2,645 yards and 35 touchdown passes. But offense wasn’t his

lone forte, as Houston, who also played defensive back, finished the

season with 54 tackles, 32 assists, and eight interceptions (one of which

was returned for a touchdown).

Three Seahawks earned first team laurels, including a pair of receivers

in junior Phillip Smith (736 yards, 8 TDs) and sophomore Patrick Campbell

(784 yards, 7 TDs), as well as senior senior defensive linebacker Chris

Hill (33 solo tackles, 64 assists).

Junior running back Jason Rhoads, senior receivers Luka Levu and Brett

Crevda, and junior lineman Ramon Murrillo represented Ocean View on the

second team offense, and junior linebacker Jason Ketcham was a second

team defensive pick.
