Cheerleeding: OCC squads heading to Orlando
ORLANDO, Florida - Orange Coast College’s cheer and dance teams
will compete in tonight in the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA)
National Championships.
OCC’s dance squad is the defending national champion, while the cheer
squad took third in the nation last year.
Combined, the two teams have won five UCA national titles over the
past five years.
The competition is being taped for later showing on ESPN.
A total of 31 OCC students are making the trip, 17 to compete on the
cheer squad, while 14 will compete on the dance team.
Other top schools to compete against OCC include the University of
Kentucky, the University of Alabama, Tennessee, Central Florida and
Hawaii.
