BALBOA -- Hollywood has come to town once again to capture that perfect

seaside scene, this time at the Balboa Ferry landing on the peninsula.

On Monday, filming for the TV movie “Timeshare” started in Balboa and

will wrap up later today. The romantic comedy stars former “James Bond”

actor Timothy Dalton and Nastassia Kinski, best known for her starring

role in “Tess of the D’Urbervilles.”

“It’ll be performed in Germany theatrically and here on TV,” said

production supervisor Scott Altomare.

The story revolves around two families who have accidentally rented the

same beach house in Balboa. While trying to make it through the night,

Dalton and Kinski -- who start out hating each other -- fall in love.

A crew of 75 people, cameras and vans full of food and equipment lined

the parking lot at the Fun Zone on Monday. Actors sat reading and

practicing their lines as cameras and crew members ran about, making sure

scenes were shot just right.

Both actors and crew members stayed in local hotels.

Filming for the movie started on Jan. 3 and should finish at the end of

the month, said Altomare. If all goes to plan, “Timeshare” will air in

April on Fox Channel 11.

Since the early 1900s, Newport Beach’s pristine scenery has served as a

backdrop for Hollywood movies and, more recently, many television

commercials.
