SHOOTING UNDER INVESTIGATION

Huntington Beach police this week continued to investigate a shooting

that authorities said may be racially motivated.

At 10:30 p.m. last Thursday, a white man in the back seat of a car pulled

out a handgun and shot two rounds at a nearby driver who was black,

officials said. The attack took place at a red light near Goldenwest

Street and Edinger Avenue.

The shots blew out the tires of the 31-year-old victim’s car, but he was

not hurt, officials said.

The shooter and his driver, who was also white, had shaved heads. One was

wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, hoop earrings and a pierced left

eyebrow. They were last seen driving a dark blue, four-door 1985 Honda

Accord.

“Why he has a shaved head and what are his motivations at this time we

don’t know,” said Huntington Beach Police Lt. Chuck Thomas.

Anyone with information is urged to call Huntington Beach police at

960-8800.

POLICE CHASE DOWN FORGERY SUSPECT

After being chased by police, a woman was taken into custody for trying

to forge a check.

Courtney Christine Fritz of Laguna Beach entered the Rite-Aide at 16141

Harbor Blvd. in Fountain Valley at 10 a.m. Monday. After making a

purchase with a stolen check, the 20-year-old returned a short while

later.

A store cashier became suspicious and called police. Fritz then left in a

white 1988 Volkswagen Rabbit.

Within minutes, Fountain Valley Police Officer Ken Luckham stopped Fritz

on Scenic Street, near Harbor and MacArthur boulevards. Fritz got out of

the car and ran, and Luckham chased after her. She was caught after a

short distance and taken into custody.

Fritz was booked on suspicion of burglary, forgery, false identification

and two outstanding arrest warrants.
