AYSO Region 97: Tsunamis split

NEWPORT BEACH - The Tsunamis, an AYSO Region 97 Division 5 boys

soccer team, opened the regional playoffs with a 4-1 win over Costa Mesa,

followed by a 2-0 loss to North Irvine.

In the win over Costa Mesa, Cameron Chase scored two goals, while

Ceasar Amador and Erik Holland each added single tallies.

Tsunami assists came from Amador, Kyle Caldwell and Danny Miller.

Strong all-around play was turned in by Eric Bonn, R.J. D’Cruz, Rex

Nelson, Hayden Navarro, Mitchell Bancroft and Michael Bingham.

In the loss to North Irvine, Caldwell, D’Cruz and Holland had many

shots on goal, while Miller and Chase played well in goal.

Despite the loss, the Tsunamis will still continue in the championship

round, with their next match coming up on Saturday.
