AYSO Region 57: Galaxy Girls advance to quarterfinals

NEWPORT BEACH - The Galaxy Girls, an AYSO Under 12 girls team,

finished area pool play this weekend in first place and will advance to

the quarterfinals.

In their 4-1 win over Tustin, Emily Almaraz scored two goals, while

Taylor Beauchamp and Caitlyn Czisny each scored once.

Offensive support was provided by Kelly Nelson, Katie Wade and Kara

Jones.

In game two, the Galaxy Girls and Costa Mesa battled to a 2-2 tie.

Almaraz and Rachel Haber scored for the Galaxy Girls, while strong

defense was provided by Kelly McElroy, Ashley Carnahan, Caroline Claure

and goalie Amanda Knuppel.

Saturday’s quarterfinal contest begins at 8:30 a.m. at Anderson Field.
