points and Jennifer McMartin scores 15 for the Eagles.

CdM’s girls basketball team advances to the first round of the Division

IV-A playoffs with a 63-52 victory over Sacred Hearts of Jesus High in a

wild card game. Ashley Conover scores 20 to lead the Sea Kings.

Southern California College’s Kevin Carlson scores 34 points to lead the

Vanguards’ mens basketball team to a 78-74 win over Biola in a Golden

State Athletic Conference matchup.

Estancia’s boys soccer team is eliminated in the first round of the

Division III playoffs on penalty kicks to J.W. North of Riverside. Gerson

Salgado scores for the Eagles to tie the game at 1-1 in the first overtime.

SCC’s Tina Southard scores 19 as the Vanguards’ women’s basketball team

defeats GSAC rival Biola, 89-55.

Ten years ago

Corona del Mar and Newport Harbor’s boys basketball team are co-champions

of the Sea View League. CdM clinches it share by defeating league rivals

University, 72-53, and Estancia, 57-38. John Paulsen and Warren Johnson

each scores 16 for CdM as they blew out the Trojans. John Upham’s 14

points leads CdM against Estancia.

The Tars’ boys basketball team grabs its piece of the Sea View League pie

barely when it edges Saddleback, 63-62. After blowing a 15-point lead,

Newport’s Ian Long hit two free throws in the final seconds that were

being the winning points. The Sailors then destroys Uni, 84-54, as Eddie

Martinez scores 14 for Newport.

Estancia barely defeats Sea View League opponent Tustin, 53-52. Guty

Heredia scores 21 for the Eagles.

Estancia’s girls basketball team crushes CdM, 62-34. Melody Earles’ 14

points leads the Eagles, and Estancia’s Robin Cordrey scores 11 and has a

career-high 20 assists.

Olivia DiCamille scores 32 as her Costa Mesa girls basketball team gets a

63-57 win over Trabuco Hills in a Pacific Coast League game.

Orange Coast College’s women’s basketball team annihilates Cypress,

64-11. Heidi Hasemann and Kami Bigler each has 10 points for the Pirates.

Estancia’s boys soccer team records a 2-0 win over Tustin. Sergio Suarez

and Gary Burrows get the goals.

Pitcher Ralph Garcia is the winner as Southern California College’s

baseball team is triumphant over UC San Diego, 6-1.
