BARRING INTERRUPTIONS?

Last week’s Infrastructure Advisory Committee meeting went off without a

hitch -- a far cry from a meeting last month in which Mayor Dave Garofalo

showed up three hours late and strongly hinted that the volunteers were

wrong about how to finance the city’s infrastructure needs.

Some wondered if the good times are going to last.

“Is the mayor now barred at our meetings?” joked member Jerry Urner.

The room exploded in laughter.

FUN WITH LASERS

Fountain Valley city officials still remember how much fun Councilman

John Collins had with a laser pointer at a previous meeting. That’s why

he was so surprised when Councilman Chuck Conlosh handed the pointer to

him during a discussion and presentation at the last council meeting.

“I never thought they’d give this back to me,” Collins quipped as others

ducked and covered their faces.

POSTER CHILD?

Ocean View School District trustee Tracy Pellman is adamant about

defeating Measure I on March 7.

She said she is working nearly around the clock on the No on Measure I

campaign. Barbecues, rallies, and informational campaigns are her daily

bread these days. And then there are the posters she has been

distributing -- they now dot many city corners. Even while giving an

unrelated tour of the Harbour View Elementary School campus this week,

she reminded school employees on her way out: “Don’t forget your signs!”
