WESTMINSTER - Corona del Mar High senior Kevin Hansen scored 22

points in three quarters, then sat back and watched his teammates hold on

for a 62-44 nonleague boys basketball victory at Westminster Wednesday.

Hansen added eight rebounds and three steals to help CdM, ranked No. 4 in

CIF Southern Section Division III-AA, improve to 17-6.

CdM senior Brooks Morris added 11 points and senior Elliott Patterson

chipped in six points and eight boards off the bench.

Alec Hanson and Joel Templeton each scored nine points for CdM, which

returns to Pacific Coast League play Friday, hosting Estancia at 6 p.m.

The Sea Kings moved into sole possession of second place in the PCL,

thanks to Costa Mesa’s loss to University Wednesday. Both teams had been

tied for second at 3-2, coming into Wednesday’s action.

CdM Coach Paul Orris also praised the play of junior guard Idean

Shahangian, whose two points didn’t tell the full story of his

contribution.

“It’s nice to have a game like this, where you can play everyone,” Orris

said.
