Nominations for Orange Coast College’s “Staff Member of the Year” award

are in. Among the nine nominees are Costa Mesa residents Linda Hehn, a

senior secretary in the Fine Arts Division; Leslie Henninger, an

instructional course assistant in the Science Lecture Halls; and T.J.

Nguyen, office coordinator in the Counseling Division. ... OCC athletic

director Jane Hilgendorf has been accepted into the “Leaders 2000”

program. The program aims to help education leaders “effectively

challenge assumptions, eliminate barriers and create new pathways to

successful solutions.” ... David Marcus, Estancia High School class of

‘96, graduated in December 1999 with academic honors from the University

of Miami, Coral Gables, Fla. A chemistry major, Marcus will enter

graduate school in the fall and plans to pursue a doctorate degree in

chemistry. ... Kristin E. Yates of Newport Beach was named to the

Claremont-McKenna College distinguished scholars list for the fall 1999

semester. Yates is a graduate of Newport Harbor High. She is the daughter

of Ursula and Douglas Yates of Newport Beach. Richard T. Hossfeld of

Newport Beach, the son of Janell and William Hossfeld, also made the

list.
