Blue’s Clues takes the lead

Blue’s Clues, the boys Under-12 Silver All-Star team out of Region

56 (Huntington Beach), moved to the top of the division standings in the

Area-11K playoffs last weekend by taking two matches from teams out of

Region 117 (Huntington Beach/Fountain Valley).

Goals by Greg Davis, Paul Tierney, and Luke McGarry all scored in a 3-1

in a morning contest, with defenders Mark Cassidy and Tommy Ball, along

with goalkeeper Nick Cappuccilli, limiting Region 117 to a single goal.

That trio, along with Kody Barrett, helped restrict Region 117 to only

one goal in a 4-1 afternoon triumph. Lonnie Watson scored twice and Davis

and Greg Weaver each added single goals to lead Region 56, which received

three goals from Tierney in a 4-0 win over Region 117 in Blue’s Clues

tournament opener in January.
