ISSUE: PARAMEDIC EQUIPMENT

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The City Council voted Tuesday to purchase three Zoll M-Series

defibrillator monitors and two battery support systems. Community

Development Block Grant Program funds will cover the $27,953 cost. The

new equipment will replace the older, less efficient heart monitors.

Paramedics use the monitors to recognize and document important heart

irregularities.

ISSUE: CITY YARD

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The council approved 10 more changes to the City Yard project,

which include seismic retrofitting and remodeling to the existing

building at 17300 Mt. Herrmann St. These changes will cost $106,043.69

and will be funded by the Fountain Valley Agency for Community

Development. The project, which began in June, was expected to be done by

March. However, the date may be extended.

ISSUE: TRANSPORTATION FUNDS

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The city will apply to the Orange County Transportation

Authority for funds to cover 22 improvement projects under the Arterial

Highway Rehabilitation Program. The program will cost an estimated $8.4

million. The city will request $3.9 million from the program. The rest of

the funds will come from money brought in from the city, Measure M and

gas tax revenue. The 22 projects include improvements on portions of

Euclid Street, Warner Avenue, Brookhurst Street, Ellis Avenue and Bushard

Street.

ISSUE: APPOINTMENTS

Vote: By separate ballot

Summary: Council members has concluded their interviews with 21

applicants who applied for seats on the city’s commissions and

committees, and announced the appointments. Planning Commission

appointments are John Briscoe, Walt Hammond, Harry Rawlins and Herman

Herbert as the alternate. The new Community Services Commission members

are Horace Williams and John Wordes, and Robert Swain as alternate. New

Traffic Advisory Committee members are Richard Edmonston and Shahir

Gobran, and Dave Katzenmeyer as alternate. Housing and Community

Development Advisory Board appointments are Gwen Bushnell, Jack Schwartz,

Michael Wellborn and Wallace Rodecker. The Advisory Committee for the

Disabled appointments are Leslie Barish, Doris Carbaugh, John Chavez,

Donand Doan, Lori Maheux, Christina Nielson and Jan Werts.
