A number of local residents are working to put together the “Women’s

Voices” Luncheon of the Women’s Division of the Jewish Federation of

Orange County, which is scheduled for March 13. Corona del Mar resident

Lois Jacobs is co-chairing the event, and Newport Beach residents Lisa

Lobel, Cameron Allen, Cecilia Goodman, Jodi Greenbaum, Jacquee Lipson,

Miki Sholkoff and Laura Udkoff are acting on the event committee. The

Women’s Division president is Corona del Mar resident Donna Weinstein.

... Cal State Long Beach will dedicate its new Thomas E. Miller Center

for Presidents’ Scholars at a ceremony Thursday. The center is named

after Newport Beach attorney Thomas E. Miller, who graduated magna cum

laude from the university in 1970. ... At the annual conference of the

Association of Community and Continuing Education, Orange Coast College’s

administrative dean of economic development and community education,

George L. Blanc, was named “Person of the Year.” Blanc was recognized for

his leadership and contributions in the field of economic development.

... OCC’s speech and debate team finished second out of 65 schools at the

Sunset Cliffs Classic speech competition held earlier this month in San

Diego. Costa Mesa resident Lucas Ochoa finished third in the category of

“speech to entertain.”
