Orange Coast College’s professor of counseling services, Steven J. Goetz,

has been named the college’s “Faculty Member of the Year” for 1999-2000

by vote of faculty and staff. Vote results were announced Feb. 22 and

Goetz will be recognized in a March 14 ceremony at the campus. ... At the

conference of the California Career Education Association earlier this

month in San Francisco, those involved with the Newport Harbor High

School Career Center, and its director, Robin Sinclair, were honored for

creating an outstanding career education program. ... The American Public

Works Association Southern California chapter named Newport Beach

engineer Hal Harris its “Leader of the Year.” Harris works for Boyle

Engineering Corp. in Newport Beach. He has served as education chairman

for the APWA Southern California chapter for 24 years. ... Doug Bennett,

who has served as executive director of the OCC Foundation for the past

14 years, will be inducted March 10 into the California Community College

Women’s Basketball Association Hall of Fame. Bennett has helped raise

more than $20 million for OCC programs since becoming foundation director

and has served as announcer for all OCC women’s basketball home games

since 1989. ... Stefanie Warren, daughter of Susan Warren of Newport

Beach, was named to the dean’s list of Emory College for the fall 1999

semester.
