* WHO: Courtney Emery

* JOB TITLE: Chairman of Pro-am operations

* HE IS: In charge of pairing pros and celebrities with paying amateurs

for a casual round of golf.

* DAILY DUTIES: Before sunrise, Emery begins registering amateurs,

checking in pros and celebrities and preparing golf carts.

“It’s a very nice deal because the pros have no pressures,” said Emery,

an Irvine resident. “There’s good camaraderie and the pros can help you

with your game. They’re all a good bunch of guys.”

Emery admits he could use some help with his game. When asked what his

handicap is, he responded “my game.”

Emery said he’ll be back to volunteer next year. “They said we can’t

resign until we get everything right,” he said.

* DID YOU KNOW: Amateurs participating in the Classic Pro-am pay between

$3,500 to $5,500. The money raised goes to Hoag Hospital.
