Boys tennis: NBTC reaches SoCal Sectional Finals

LOS ANGELES - The boys 12 and under tennis team from the Newport

Beach Tennis Club reached the finals of the USTA Junior Team Tennis

Southern California Section Tournament before losing to La Jolla Beach

and Tennis Club in the championship held at UCLA.

Under Coach Dave Sherbeck of the NBTC, Parker Rhodes, Kyle Schneekluth

and John Leonard each played solid singles matches, while Cole Pavlovich

and Connor Whalen played as an undefeated doubles team.

The team won their division in the Orange County Penn League to qualify

for the Southern California Section Tournament.

The team defeated Cornejo, Golden Empire and Greater Long Beach in the

first three rounds of the 16-team tournament.
