AYSO Region 120: Top Guns end season with a 2-1 win

COSTA MESA - The Costa Mesa Top Guns, an AYSO Region 120 girls

under 12 all-star team, defeated Newport Beach, 2-1, to conclude the

all-star season.

Goals were scored by Nichole Johnson and Melissa Murphy in the fourth

quarter.

Leading the Top Guns to victory was the strong play of Avery Williams,

Taylor Feldman, Emily Leece, Phoebe Chang, Michelle Paples, Tracy Patton,

Marina Abdul, Arion Ingram, Lisa Newton, Alissa Milliard, Brianna

Vanderwal and Kristen Paulsen.

In Region 120 boys action: The Costa Mesa Matrix boys under 12 all-star team fell to Tustin, 3-1,

before ending the season with a 3-1 loss over South Irvine.

In game one, Austin Evett scored the lone goal for Costa Mesa off an

assist from Albert Nava.

In game two against South Irvine, Nava scored Costa Mesa’s only goal.

Pushing the offense was Luis Andrade, Luis Cozza and Kenneth Zich, while

Steven Brown, German Higadera, Nickolas Juarez and Garrett McMasters.

Led by goalkeepers Thomas Kosnosky and Kyle Thorsness, the defense was

anchored by Shawn Engmann, Christian Medina, Gandhy Nava and Cody

Waldron.
