Softball: Sailors hammer Saddleback

SANTA ANA - The pitching of Kim Moore and the hitting of Kristen

Smith led Newport Harbor High’s softball team to a 14-0 win over host

Saddleback in nonleague action Tuesday afternoon.

Moore threw a five-inning one-hitter, striking out four, while Smith hit

for the cycle (single, double, triple and home run), scoring four runs

and driving in two for the Sailors (2-0).

Newport will return home to play Santa Ana in a make-up game of the Costa

Mesa tournament today at 3:15 p.m.
