Track and field: Runners shine for CdM

CORONA DEL MAR - Corona del Mar High’s boys and girls track and

field team got solid performances in a nonscoring meet against visiting

El Toro Thursday.

For the CdM girls, Jenny Cummins won the 200-meter and 800 races with

times of 27.1 and 2:24.4, respectively. Liz Morse took the 200-meter race

(57.6) and she anchored the winning 4x100 and 4x400 relay squads. Diane

Hossfeld ran a strong 2:25.6 in the 800 and was first in the 3200

(12:00). Kristen Canary won the pole vault with an impressive 8-6, and

also took the triple jump (32-7). Allison Brawner finished first in the

high jump (5-4) and long jump (14-5).

For the CdM boys, Travis Bearslee was victorious in the 1600 (4:28.4) and

3200 (10:17.2) races. Matt Moore won the 100 by running 11.3, and the 200 with a 23.1. Sean Fenton took the shotput (52-0) and discus (158-10).
