Mrs. Natalie C. Moore, of Newport Beach, died from complications of a

stroke March 11.

Mrs. Moore was born in Pound Ridge, N.Y., and moved with her family to

Pasadena at an early age. She attended Ramona Convent School, the

Westridge School and, in 1941, earned a degree in fine arts from USC. She

was actively involved in equestrian activities at the Flintridge Riding

Academy and participated in Pasadena’s Tournament of Roses parades with

her father, Philip Coon. During these early years, she and her family

vacationed often in Newport Beach and the surrounding area.

She married USC classmate Deane B. Moore of Arcadia and spent the World

War II years as a volunteer for the Army Canteen Service at the famous

“Hollywood Canteen.” After the war, she and her husband returned to the

family farm in Pound Ridge and developed the property into residential

lots. Mr. Moore, a business executive in New York City, was active in the

New York Shrine and was inducted into The Royal Order of Jesters. The

Moores were devoted to their prize-winning German shepherdsand sailing,

and were members of the New York Yacht Club and Stamford Yacht Club. Mrs.

Moore was also active in the Republican Women’s Club and served as a key

organizer for Gen. Dwight Eisenhower’s presidential campaign in New York

state.

In the late 1950s, Mr. and Mrs. Moore moved to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Mr.

Moore, an avid yachtsman, became the manager of the William G. Hobbs

Yacht Sales Co. while Mrs. Moore began a new career in real estate. She

also coordinated New York Yacht Club social events for members living in

Florida. After Mr. Moore’s death in 1966, she added yacht sales to her

busy schedule, but in 1983 returned to California to assist her mother,

Lillian, in Altadena.

Upon the death of her mother, she moved to Newport Beach to be close to

family and friends. Mrs. Moore leaves two nephews, Kent S. Moore of

Corona del Mar and Patt G. Moore of Montecito. No services are scheduled.
