NBLL-Majors: Braves double up Reds

NEWPORT BEACH - The Braves opened the season with a 6-3 win over

the Reds in Newport Beach Little League, AA Division action.

Pitchers Evan Zoller and Tyler Ellis held the Reds to five hits and two

earned runs, while Zak Warsaw, James Gray, Martin Ostrowsky and Andrew

Dilynas played solid defensively.

Key hits came off the bats of Jordan Taormina, Paul Knezevic, Andrew

Dialynas and James Gray, while Matt Lutton and Matt Bergner played a

good, all-around game.

For the Reds, Jake Lemmerman and Brian Burke combined to strike out eight

Braves, while Blaine Nielson added two hits to spark the offensive

attack. Ben White and Tyler Kent each chipped with a hit apiece.

In other Majors Division action:

Angels 8, Diamondbacks 3 - Jonathan Cabin, Geoffry Grant and Ryan Lance

combined to toss a one-hitter for the Angels.

Cabin was also a force at the plate, with a 4-for-4 performance, while

Avery Fenton had four RBIs.

Hunt Rychel led the Diamondbacks with a solid, all-around performance.
