Track and field: Cypress laps Estancia

CYPRESS - Estancia High’s boys and girls track teams were defeated

by host Cypress in season-opening nonleague action Thursday afternoon.

On the boys’ side, freshman Humberto Rojas took first in the 1,600

(4:45.0) and 3.200-meter runs (10:34.0), Luis Segoviano won the 800

(2:09.0) and came in second in the 1,600 (4:46.0) and Ryan Crogan won the

shot put (46-4).

On the girls side, Liz Huipe was a double winner, taking first in the

1,600 (5:38.0) and 3,200 (12:51.0). Hannie Geider was a winner in the

high jump (4-11).

Estancia will open Pacific Coast League action on the roadThursday

against rival Costa Mesa, beginning at 3 p.m.
