LETTER OF THE WEEK

It must be terrible to lose a child and I sympathize with Cindy and Eric

Soto (“Sotos expected to file lawsuit,” March 15). However, I feel the

decision that they and the Wieners have made is not one that will bring

any good to anyone but the lawyers.

They have no idea what it will be like to sit in court and relive the

agony of what has happened and cast blame on a church and a preschool. I

hope they didn’t forget to name the Cadillac, the manufacturer of the

fence and all the other children and adults who were there and did not

throw themselves in front of the car, in the suit.

It hurts me to sit at my computer and write this letter because of two

falls I took as a child. But being the daughter of a doctor I was taught

never to sue. Things happen -- in God’s way -- and some of them are not

good. But we all have to go on, not dredge up the past and ruin the lives

of the people who will be in that courtroom on both sides.

I urge the Sotos to go and watch a couple of similar cases in a courtroom

before they pursue this any further.

And if the lawyers are not doing this suit “pro bono,” then it is the

Sotos who will be the biggest victims of all.
