An investigation continues into the cause of death for a 50-year-old

Huntington Beach man who died Saturday while scuba diving in Laguna

Beach, officials said.

At about 7 p.m., Nathan Thomas Roth went on a night lobster dive with a

group of people off Fisherman’s Cove, Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Greg Bartz

said.

Roth left the group an hour later and headed back to shore, Bartz said.

Another diver followed him back, but couldn’t find him. The diver found

Roth’s body floating about 10 minutes later, Bartz said.

Lifeguards tried resuscitating Roth before paramedics took him to South

Coast Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, he said.
