Softball: Harbor splits in tourney

GARDEN GROVE - Newport Harbor High’s softball team was a winner and

a loser Sunday in consolation action of the Garden Grove Tournament.

The Sailors knocked off Estancia, 5-2, in their first game, before

falling to Buena Park, 2-0, in game two.

Kristen Smith hit her second home run of the season in the win over

Estancia and drove in two runs. Lindsay Moore threw a complete game and

had two hits and an RBI at the plate.

Lauren Cassity tried to spark Estancia’s offense with a triple and a run

scored.

Shelby Crisp went 3 for 3 for the Sailors (8-5) in the game two loss.

Newport will host Northwood today at 3:15 p.m.
