Dian Austin, designer of the Austin Horn Collection, gets her ideas for

her bedroom ensembles by shopping the world for damasks, Jacquards,

tapestries, brocades, silks, velvets and embroidered laces. Her most

recent trip was to Europe and New York and she will report on the latest

trends in fabric, texture and color for the home to members of the La

Casa Committee of the Philharmonic Society of Orange County at 4:30 p.m.

today in her new Corona del Mar Plaza store. Attendees will be the first

to see the latest Austin Horn Collection of bed ensembles and decorative

pillows Austin has designed for the Forbes Collection. The Forbes

Collection was inspired by the lavish lifestyle of Malcolm Forbes,

reflected in the art collections and properties held worldwide by Forbes,

Inc. One of Austin’s designs was inspired by the 17th century Chateau de

Balloroy in Normandy; Dian was especially taken by its Waterloo Suite,

saluting Napoleon I and the Duke of Wellington, so she created a

mesh-metal embroidery with golden threads on velvet duvets, shams and

pillows of “The Napoleon Suite.” There is also a collection of bed and

accessory pieces that were made with an egg motif, created by Austin with

the Forbes’ Imperial Egg Collection by Faberge in mind. Each piece of the

collection is embellished with cording, tassels and crystal beading

trims. The Austin Horn Collection Store is at Corona del Mar Plaza in

Newport Beach. Call (949) 443-2207.
