Men’s volleyball: OCC knocks off Grossmont

COSTA MESA - The Orange Coast College men’s volleyball team knocked

off undefeated Grossmont in four games Friday night in a battle of two of

the state’s top teams.

The Pirates won the Orange Empire Conference matchup, 15-2, 10-15, 15-13,

15-9.

B.J. Lightvoet led the Pirates (15-3, 9-3 in conference) with 35 kills,

while Dave Moser added 21.

Assisting the attack, literally, was Nick Ptaschinski with 81 assists,

while captain Pat McCarty anchored the defense with 20 digs, to go along

with his seven kills and eight blocks.

Grossmont falls to 11-1 in conference, 15-1 overall.

OCC will take on San Diego Mesa on the road Wednesday at 7 p.m.
