NEWPORT BEACH - The Orange County Fellowship of Christian Athletes

will host its second annual Night of Champions, featuring professional

athletes and a skateboard park, Friday at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church

in Newport Beach.

Many students from around Orange County, who are interested or involved

in sports, will be bused into the event, themed “More Than Winning.” The

purpose of the event is to provide a positive impact, challenging

student/athletes to be champions in both life and sports.

The skateboard park will open at 3 p.m. Friday, with dinner and

entertainment at 5 p.m., followed by the main program at 7 p.m.

Ken Johnson and Tarik Glenn of the Indianapolis Colts are scheduled to

speak, along with professional women’s volleyball player Jenny Jordan.

Entertainment will include music from “All Together Separate” and “Twist

of Faith,” as well as drama and comedy presentations from “The Delivery

Boys.”

Corona del Mar and Newport Harbor are two of several Orange County high

schools expected to be represented by athletes.

The event is hosted by Mark Boyer, Orange County Director of Fellowship

of Christian Athletes and a former football player for Edison High in

Huntington Beach, USC and the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets.

In 1966, FCA established its Huddle program, the backbone of the group’s

school-year activities. School Huddles give athletes a positive peer

group to nurture growth and inspire teammates to improve their spiritual

lives and to challenge others to do the same.

The Night of Champions is at 600 St. Andrews Road, Newport Beach,

adjacent to Newport Harbor High. Admission is free. Details: (949)
