nine innings. The Mustangs’ Charles Chatman and Josh Cant gets walked

with the bases loaded to drive in the tying and winning runs.

Costa Mesa’s softball team comes back from a 5-0 deficit to beat

cross-town and PCL rival Estancia, 8-6. Sarah Halverson scores after a

triple to give Mesa a 6-5 lead.

CdM’s boys tennis team manhandles Newport Harbor, 15-3. John Cappello and

John MacFarlane sweep in singles for the Sea Kings.

Orange Coast College’s women’s swim team extends wins its 100th

consecutive meet against Cypress and San Diego Mesa, extending the record

for the longest win streak by any community college team in the country.

Erin Snow and Michelle Pereira each finish first in two events for the

Pirates.

Ten years ago

Estancia’s baseball team captures the Pride of the Coast Tournament

championship with a dramatic 7-4 win over El Modena. The Eagles’ Colby

French is the hero with a game-winning three-run homer.

In the tournament semifinals, the Eagles beat Artesia, 4-3, behind a

complete game from pitcher Greg Brannis. In the quarterfinals, the Eagles

gets a 4-1 victory over Glenn, as Estancia pitcher Cody Rodman gets a

three-hit win.

Costa Mesa’s baseball team advances to the Pride of the Coast Tournament

consolation championship with a 4-2 triumph over Los Amigos. Winning Mesa

pitcher Mike Cutler gives up just one hit.

Newport Harbor’s baseball team comes back from a 3-0 deficit to tie the

game, but the Tars fall to Lynwood, 4-3, in the Pride of the Coast

consolation bracket. Jason Farr and Steffen Spizziri each gets an RBI for

the Sailors.

In it’s next tournament game, Newport’s baseball team crushes Rancho

Alamitos, 7-1, as Garrett Gruber and Chris Carden each gets three RBIs

for Newport.

In the Sailors’ last baseball game in the Pride of the Coast Tournament,

they get hammered by Back Bay rival CdM, 17-7, in the consolation

bracket. Rees Thorkelson drives in four runs for the Sea Kings, and he is

also the winning pitcher.
