College crew: OCC shines in San Diego

MISSION BAY - The Orange Coast College varsity crew won the petite

(consolation) final and the Pirates’ novice eight was fourth in it’s

division Sunday at the San Diego Crew Classic.

The varsity eight, coached by Jim Jorgensen, completed the course in

6:10, one second better than Oregon State to finish seventh overall. The

boat included Todd Seligman, Mike McGuinness, Jeff Larson, Junsik Hyun,

Dan Toth, Aaron Clousing, Luke Wright, Tyson Hellmich and coxswain Sam

Yost.

OCC’s novice crew, coached by Dave Grant, included Bill Clifford, Pat

Secor, Leo Shook, Henrik Ljungfelt, Brett Winfield, Scriv Hoppe, Chris

Kolstad, Ryan Davidson and coxswain Julie Kolstad. The boat’s time of

6:24 placed it behind Washington (5:57), Cal and Oregon State.
