Prep track and field: Huipe paces Eagles

CERRITOS - Estancia High junior Liz Huipe won the 3,200 meters and

was third in the 1,600 to pace a host of Eagles who fared well at the

Cerritos Track and Field Invitational Saturday.

Huipe’s 12:20 clocking topped the field in the 3,200 and she went 5:51 in

the 1,600.

Junior Janet Cahuantzi was third in the 3,200 (12:54) and fifth in the

1,600 (6:17).

Junior Sarah Marx was third in the 200 (28.2) and led off the 1,600 relay

which also finished third. Carmen McNeil, Huipe and Vanessa Stevens

rounded out the relay.

Stevens was sixth in the 3,200 (6:19), while McNeil was fifth in the 400

(1:11.5).

Stephanie Melendez was seventh in the 3,200 (6:20).
