ISSUE: REHABILITATION PROGRAM

Vote: 5-0

Summary: At Tuesday’s meeting, the City Council discussed the affordable

loans it offers through the Single-family Rehabilitation Program. The

loans are made to low-income families to help them buy homes. The council

members agreed to work with Bank of America to provide the financing.

ISSUE: COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANTS

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The council agreed to use the funds left over from last year’s

grant budget for this year. The unspent $144,159 will be used for

neighborhood revitalization, neighborhood enhancement and job training

programs.

ISSUE: CROSSING GUARDS

Vote: 5-0

Summary: The council agreed to continue the city’s contract with All City

Management Services, which maintains the crossing guard program at a cost

of about $146,500. The company posts guards at 20 locations throughout

the city and is responsible for recruiting, hiring, training and

supervising the program. Using the private company allows the city to

free up traffic police officers, so they can attend to enforcement and

accident investigation, officials said..
