Mayor will be back to work Monday

HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Mayor Dave Garofalo expects to return to work at City

Hall on Monday after undergoing double bypass surgery late last month.

Since his March 23 operation, Garofalo has spent most of his time

recuperating, but the 54-year-old city official has quickly regained his

energy.

“I’m showered, shaved, fully dressed and going out today,” he said

Wednesday.

His condition forced him to miss Monday’s City Council meeting, which was

only the second time in his six-year council career he couldn’t attend,

he said.

Garofalo, who is also the publisher of a local newspaper, has a history

of heart problems. He required an angioplasty in late June.
