Men’s golf: OCC falls to Riverside

MORENO VALLEY - The Orange Coast College men’s golf team took a

step backward as the Pirates fell to Riverside, 379-392 in Orange Empire

Conference action Wednesday at Moreno Valley Ranch Golf Course, par 72.

Eric Hird shot a three-over 75, while Tim Sakkinen (77), Ken Kate (78),

Kyle Wicks (81) and Erik Hebert (81) complete the Pirates’ top five.

The loss comes following a win over Cuyamaca on Monday, 378-404 at

Singing Hills Golf Course, par 71.. Hird led the Bucs with a two-over 73,

while Brian Winston (74), Kato (75), Wicks (78) and Erik Herbert (78)

wrap up the top five.

OCC (17-7, 12-5 in conference) will take on Cypress at noon before

starting playoff action.
