Swimming: Eagles split with La Quinta

COSTA MESA - Estancia High’s girls swim team edged out La Quinta,

95-78, while the boys squad was beaten, 88-80, by the Aztecs.

Lauren Cassity, Jennifer Cassity and were double-winners for the Eagles

(3-8 overall).

Lauren Cassity took top spot in the 50-yard freestyle (26.56) and 100

free (1:02.3), while her younger sister, Jennifer took first in the 200

free (2:19.2) and the 100 breaststroke (1:27.8).

Flaherty was No. 1 in the 500 free (6:34.0). Flaherty and the Cassity

sisters were three-fourths of the winning 200 medley (2:21.03) with Katie Wyman and 200 free relay teams (2:01.05) with Diana Kopasek.

On the boys side, David Collier and Brian Monette each wontwo events for

Estancia.

Collier captured the 200-yard freestyle (2:08.8) and the 500 freestyle

(5:51.53). Monette was the victor in the 50 free (26.09) and the 100 free

(58.74).

The Eagles will resume Pacific Coast League action against Northwood next

week.
