Brewers KO Cardinals

Daniel Jones hit his fourth home run of the season Saturday to

highlight a big day by the Brewers, who went on to post an 8-0 shutout of

the Cardinals in Robinwood Little League Majors Division play.

Jones also doubled during a Brewers’ hitting attack that also featured a

triple and double by Casey Becker.

Becker and Scott Schauer teamed for the pitching win by limiting the

Cardinals to just four hits while striking out 11.

Clay Rinker led the Cardinals with two hits, and both Erik Koon and Kevin

Brostoff singled.

In other games:

Brewers 4, Dodgers 0

Becker, Tommy Baird and Schauer combined on a one-hit shutout and lifted

the Brewers into sole possession of first place in the division. Josh

Votaw led the Brewers on offense, and Jeffrey Scott had the lone hit for

the Dodgers.

Cardinals 8, Braves 3

Pitchers Matt Pluth and Erik Koon combined to limit the Braves to a

single hit. Pluth also led his team offensively with two hits, while Ryan

Nagle doubled for the winners.

Mets 17, Yankees 5

Gian Bruno went 2 for 2 with four RBI, Brandon Gladu went 3 for 4, Jason

Gettler had two hits, and pitchers Eddie Ramirez, Bryce Overend, and

James Spoolstra led the Mets in victory; Ryan Gonzales and Chris Gorham

each finished with two hits for the Yankees.

MINOR B DIVISION

Giants 12, Cardinals 11 Jeffrey Van Valkenburg delivered his second hit and third RBI of the game

with two out in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally the Giants, who

scored eight runs in their final at-bat to stun the Cardinals.
