Yankees outlast Dodgers

The Yankees rallied from a five-run deficit to defeat the Dodgers

Thursday, using a seven-run fourth inning outburst to post an 11-9

victory in Fountain Valley Little League Majors Division action at Mile

Square Park.

Mark Cubberly hit a two-run single and Matt James and David McClelland

each had RBI singles to lead the comeback. Other Yankee offensive

highlights included an RBI by Philip Burden and singles by John Larner,

Jeff Mitchell, Jason Allen, and Roger Huffman.

Sean Atchison singled twice and drove in three runs, Tommy Delicce

doubled twice, Joel Stanton singled and tripled, Travis Koehler had two

singles and an RBI, and Brian Faust singled twice for the Dodgers.

In other games:

Mariners 2, Marlins 1

Josh Larson pitched a complete game four hitter for the Mariners, whose

offense was led by Joe Musser with an RBI single.

Jeff Spirk singled twice, and combined with Jessey Cordero on the mound

to strike out 13, to lead the Marlins.

MINOR A DIVISION

Mets 11, Orioles 1

Robert Johnson pitched a complete game three hitter with 11 strikeouts to clinch the first half championship for the Mets. Jeremy Scheman and Billy

Bintner led the Mets offensively with a double and two RBI apiece, Robert

Souders had a pair of singles and RBI, Brett Hill hit an RBI triple,

Timothy Miehl doubled, and Johnson helped his own cause with a base hit

and RBI.

Trevor Dalbey singled twice and Ryan Haskins singled to account of the

Orioles offense.

Dodgers 22, Diamondbacks 6

The Dodgers ripped the Diamondbacks for 16 hits. John Spirk tripled,

singled three times, and had four RBI, Jordan Weber singled twice and had

a bases loaded triple, Joe Peters doubled twice and singled, Daisuke

Nishikawa added a pair of hits and RBI, and Taylor Wilson hit an RBI

single during a potent Dodgers attack.

Sara Mitchell had an RBI double and Andy DePriet an RBI single for the

Diamondbacks.

Devil Rays 7, Reds 1

Kevin Smisko’s two-run inside-the-park home run led the Devil Rays to the

win; Joey Invidiata doubled and scored for the Reds.

Reds 10, Yankees 6

Matt Ord led the Yankees with a three-run triple and single, Mike Elmore

had an RBI single, and Alexander Ackel had two base hits; Tyler Buckles

hit a three-run inside-the-park home run, Sean Hakam singled and doubled,

and Jake Jerulle doubled for the Yankees.
