The Newport Harbor Nautical Museum is holding an exhibit on the history

of traditional navigation techniques and watercraft used by the island

people of the Pacific. The free display, which features ancient pottery,

war clubs, paddles, tools and decorative items from many Pacific Rim

cultures, will be on display through June 18. The museum is open 10 a.m.

to 5 p.m., Tuesdays through Sundays, and is at 151 E. Coast Highway,

WEDNESDAY

The Pacific Symphony Orchestra will present its final “Classic Encounters

for Singles” preconcert party of the season at 6 p.m. at The Westin South

Coast Plaza, 686 Anton Blvd, Costa Mesa. An 8 p.m. concert will follow at

the Orange County Performing Arts Center, 600 Town Center Drive, Costa

Mesa. The pre-party will feature live jazz, hot hors d’oeuvres, a no-host
