International Director, golfers in District 5320 are invited enjoy 18
holes of golf at the Newport Beach Country Club.
The fourth annual charity tournament features a hole-in-one contest for
two luxury automobiles, competitions for longest drive, most accurate

Everyone can bring home a prize through the silent and live auctions.

REUNION OF THE GOOFOFFERS
Goofoffers Gazette editor Bill Huscroft is organizing a reunion of all
Goofoffers on Thursday from 8 to 10 a.m. at Malarkey’s Irish Pub, 3011
Newport Blvd.
Founded in 1957 by the late Dick Richards, the membership has included
some of the areas leading citizens -- John Wayne, Dick Lane, Richard
Nixon, Congressman Bob Badham, Harry Babbitt, Bill Ficker, Art Gronsky,
Ned Hill, Jim and Jack Penny, Bill Hamilton, Rollie Brousard, Bob
Goodwin, Jack Zaremba, John Morley, Herb Hawkinson, Al Pinkley, Bob
Wilson, Tom Riley, Lloyd Winburn and Jud Smith, to name a few.
As Huscroft puts it, “The movers list goes on -- movers, shakers and
rogues all.”
For years, club members gathered at the Cannery Restaurant to sip coffee,
discuss local politics and share stories and jokes. At one time,
Goofoffers Gazette founders Jud and Melba Smith mailed out more than
1,000 copies.
More recently, with dwindling membership, the club has been meeting at
the Omelet Parlor on 17th Street. It has been a dozen years since I’ve
been to a Goofoffers meeting, but I will take the pens and pencils out of
my Goofoffers cup and join the group Thursday.
EASTER EGG HUNT
In an event open to the public, Newport Harbor American Legion Post 291

served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost for children is $2 and adults is

WORTH REPEATING
From the Newport Beach-Corona del Mar Kiwanis Club: “Teamwork is the fuel
