Boys golf: Sailors hammer Stevenson

NEWPORT BEACH - Newport Harbor High’s boys golf team knocked off

Pebble Beach’s Stevenson High, 424-451, Friday at Big Canyon Country

Club, par 72.

Kevin Olson was the medalist of the match, shooting a six-over 78, while

Mitch Johns and Traighe Concannon each came in with an 85 for the Sailors

(13-1).

Jake Allenach (86) and Scott Tippett (90) rounded out Newport’s scoring.

The Sailors will play the final nine holes of their match with Huntington

Beach Monday at Seacliff Country Club. Newport leads the Oilers by eight

strokes in the battle of two of the top teams in Orange County.
