Prep baseball: Mustangs defeat Saddleback
COSTA MESA - Josh Little launched his first homer of the season,
Galen Fajardo drove in three runs and Carlos Franco closed out his fifth
save to pace the Costa Mesa High baseball team to a 7-4 nonleague win
over visiting Saddleback Tuesday.
Jeremiah Haubrick also pitched two scoreless innings to post his fourth
win in five decisions as Coach Kirk Bauermeister’s Mustangs improved to
9-12-1.
Little, who had four homers en route to All-Newport-Mesa District honors
last spring, led off the fourth with a bomb over the left-field fence to
give the Mustangs a 4-3 lead.
Daniel Hunter and Antony Grubisich singled and Fajardo lifted a sacrifice
fly to produce the second run of the inning and build an insurmountable
lead.
Franco, a junior, went 3 for 4 and sophomore shortstop Mike McGuire went
2 for 2 with two walks and two RBIs.
