AT ISSUE: The Newport Beach Planning Commission’s approval of a

470-room resort for the Newport Dunes site.

I would like to voice my support for the Newport Dunes Resort Hotel

project (“Dunes plan jumps hurdle but faces others,” April 22). I believe

the artistic beauty, enhancements to the area and the positive economic

impact this project will bring would be a welcome benefit to the city,

its business and residents.

As we have seen in recent history, it is impossible to build any

significant building project without objections of one kind or another. I

hope the residents, local community and the Newport Beach Planning

Department can become the facilitators of solutions to enable this

project to be built.

approving the proposed Newport Dunes Resort Hotel. Not only will it

provide economic benefit to the city, but the plans clearly show it will

be a first class addition to our community.
