JC swimming: Joos, Ferreira shine

MISSION VIEJO - Orange Coast College women’s swimmer Emily Joos

placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke Saturday in the final day of

the three-day Orange Empire Conference Championships at Saddleback

College.

In the men’s finals, OCC’s Geraldo Ferreira was third in the 100

freestyle (47.22) to highlight the Pirates.

The OCC women finished fifth and the women finished sixth.

Additional top-10 finishes were turned in by OCC women Tracey Maddox

(fourth in the 1,650 free in 19:21.02), Ellen Dolan and Kristen Day

(sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 100 backstroke) and Gina

Masfield (eighth in the 100 butterfly).

Chris Lancellotti was 10th in the 200 breastroke for the OCC men.
