Boys volleyball: CdM clinches PCL crown
CORONA DEL MAR - The Corona del Mar High boys volleyball team
wrapped up its first Pacific Coast League championship Tuesday, sweeping
visiting University, 15-5, 15-12, 15-9.
The Sea Kings, tied for the top ranking in CIF Southern Section Division
I, improved to 15-1, 7-0 in league. They close out their inaugural PCL
campaign Thursday at Costa Mesa, before visiting Back Bay rival Newport
Harbor Friday to conclude the regular season.
Greg Stampley led CdM with 16 kills Tuesday, but setters Kevin Hansen (21
assists) and Evan Burden (12 assists) also shared the ball with Chris
Shepardson (six kills), Alec Hanson (five kills and five aces), Forrest
Mack (five kills), John Grod (four kills) and Brian Gallagher (three
kills).
