The residents who make up the city’s Infrastructure Advisory Committee

blame city councils past and present for allowing streets and sewers to

fall into disrepair.

At last week’s meeting, the committee was preparing to give the council a

presentation on the cost of the work that needs to be done.

Member Sally Alexander worried about the presentation being too critical

of the council members.

“We have to be careful not to make them upset,” she said.

But member George Mason said people should be prepared for a nasty

exchange.

“Do you have your flak jacket and hard hat?” he asked.

All grown up

During an interview with his mom, 4-year-old Miles Vinikow didn’t want to

be left out of the newspaper. So Miles was asked how he felt about the

new playground equipment his mom worked for a year to install in the

neighborhood park. He conducted himself like an adult.

In a most mature voice, he answered, “It’s great because it has a

bumpety-bump slide.”

Early bunnies get the eggs

At an Easter egg hunt in Fountain Valley, a group of children got an

early start.

The emcee noticed some kids in a corner creeping to pick up eggs before

the hunt began. When the emcee shouted “No!” to stop them, the others

thought he said “Go!” So all the children started the hunt early.
