Angels go nine to topple Yankees

Trevin Sofferman’s ground out drove in Christopher Flowers with the

winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift the Angels to a

10-9 victory over the Yankees in Fountain Valley Little League Minor A

Division action at Mile Square Park.

Flowers and Garrett James each singled twice to lead the Halos.

Barry Neu had four hits, including a pair of singles, a double, and a

triple, to lead a potent Yankees offense that also found Jordon Santana

also triple and single with two RBI, Geoff Feltman single twice with two

RBI, Drew Adams deliver a run-scoring triple, Matt Hernandez hit an RBI

double, and Danny Dion produce an RBI single.

Reds 2, Diamondbacks 0

Reds pitchers Kris Wysong, Doug Hansen, and Mitch Myers combined to hold

the Diamondbacks to one hit, a fourth inning single by Nathan Lachenmyer;

Diamondback pitchers Sara Mitchell, Steven Santana, and Matt James tamed

the Reds with just two hits, singles by Hansen and Garrett DeJong, while

Jon Fried had an RBI.

Dodgers 11, Orioles 10

The Dodgers scored six runs in the top half of a wild sixth inning to

take an 11-8 lead, then held off a late Orioles surge for the win. John

Spirk singled and doubled, Taylor Wilson singled twice, Daisuke Nishikawa

had a two-RBI single, and Farzon Namvari hit an RBI single to lead the

Dodgers. Jason Swanberg had two RBI and a single, Joshua Troche singled

twice with an RBI, Ryan Haskin had an RBI single, Andrew Brown drove in a

run, and Kyle Myers tripled for the Orioles.

Mets 16, Angels 4

Robert Johnson hit two singles and had three RBI, Taylor Fish had a pair

of singles, a double, and three runs scored, Billy Bintner singled three

times with two RBI, Robert Souders singled with an RBI, and Eric Herman

drove in a run to power the Mets; Skyler Winston had an RBI triple and

scored three runs and Christopher Flowers also had an RBI for the Angels.

Devil Rays 8, Yankees 3

Kevin Smisko had an RBI double and Kyle Ziething had an RBI single to

lead the Devil Rays; Drew Adams had a two-run single, Jordon Santana had

an RBI single, and Geoff Feltman singled and doubled for the Yankees.

MINOR B DIVISION

Mets 18, Dodgers 4

AJ Cardenalli, Dillon Auxier, Josh Ishizaki, and Jacob Gomez each had two

hits for the Mets; Brian Enoka had two singles and Garrett Olson tripled

for the Dodgers.

Royals 12, Devil Rays 11

Alex Leemhuis doubled with two RBI, Ray Strazzulla singled with two RBI,

and Zach LaMantain had an RBI single as the Royals pulled out the win by

scoring twice in the bottom of the sixth inning; Steven Andreen had an

RBI single and Nick Loukides had an RBI for the Devil Rays.

Angels 4, Reds 3

Andy Palacios had an RBI double, Magic Lucio had an RBI single, and

Michael Tranfield also had an RBI for the Angels; Mike Elmore had an RBI

single for the Reds.

Braves 12, Yankees 6

Chris Van Vuuren hit an RBI triple, Michael James had an RBI double and

single, Alfred Holliman had an RBI double, and Cheyne Taylor and Eric

Martinez each drove in a run for the Braves; Jacob Bonham had an RBI

single and Cody Morad drove in a run for the Yankees.
