In Brief
ORANGE COAST COLLEGE -- A special Mother’s Day celebration will encompass
moms outside the immediate family. The OCC Care Club will bring special
baskets to mothers who live at Heritage House, a residential treatment
and recovery center.
Some members of the Care Club hold the outing close to their hearts
because they have lived in similar residential treatment centers. Many
members serve as role models as they share their own stories of
struggling through unfortunate situations and how they rose above it.
All club members take steps to support low-income single parents on
campus and within the community. So far, the club has gathered enough
items to fill 20 baskets. Members are seeking unused donations of makeup,
toiletries, snacks, toys and other small items to fit in a care basket.
