HB Lightning third at tournament

The HB Lightning, a girls Under-14 soccer team out of AYSO Region

143 (Westminster/Huntington Beach), captured third place last weekend at

The Fox and The Hare Tournament held in Lakewood.

By shutting out host Lakewood, Valencia, and Redondo Beach, the Lightning

secured first place in their pool to advance to the medal round.

In their semifinal match, the Lightning were defeated by San Pedro

(Region 6), 4-1.

Members of the HB Lightning include Jessica Abdou, Megan Bell, Shauna

Brown, Tara Fox, Aubrie Fuette, Jessica Goud, Gena Johnson, Nina Kratter,

Caitlin McGinnis, Ann-Mari Osgood, Janet Peterson, Hilary Pohlman,

Lindsey Rodgers, and Lauren Stimmler.

In other tournament action, the Surf City Stikers girls Under-14 team of

Region 143 finished The Fox and The Hare Tournament play with a 1-1-1

record. Members of the squad include Kirsten Bolt, Nikki Frieborg,

Kristin Coleman, Alexandra Jaspers, Ashley Beanblossom, Blair Connors,

Annita DeGiglio, Whitney Gaeta, Danae Lucas, Ann Ludolph, Natalie Meyers,

Jessica Shannon, Erin Silverlake, Lauren Swensen, and Krista Thompson.

In girls Under-12 action, Region 143’s Extreme earned second place at The

Fox and The Hare Tournament.
